Each year, the month of April is set aside as National Poetry Month, a time to celebrate poets and their craft. It was organized and introduced by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry in the United States. In honor of National Poetry Month, Pelion Branch Library sponsors its annual Poetry Contest in April.
Almost everyone. We have categories for students in elementary, middle and high school as well as adults.

Saturday, April 30, 2022 no later than 1 PM
Prizes will be awarded in each category for first place, honorable mention and best overall winners on Thursday, May 12, at 6 PM at Pelion Branch Library’s Poetry Party. All contestants are invited to attend and are encouraged to read their poem to the audience. You do not need to be present to win.
