winter reading challenge

Fall Into Winter Reading

Why should summer get all the fun? Reading is entertaining all year long.

The days are getting colder and the nights are getting longer — but reading always brightens up our day — so we’re challenging you to Fall Into Winter Reading. We realize you’re busy, so we made it simple. Grab a Bingo card from your local branch or download one from our website. There are four different cards, one for each age group — so everyone can participate — including early literacy, children, teens and adults.

Complete five activities across, vertically or diagonally to get Bingo. These game boards provide a variety of prompts to help you choose your next book. Then, return your card to the library to receive a prize. By turning in your card you’ll also be entered to win a grand prize drawing but that’s not the only reason to participate. Here’s some more …

The early literacy and children’s boards have a range of literacy-building activities. In addition to the reading prompts, some squares can be completed by playing a game or creating a piece of art. Reading and playing with your children is fun bonding time and promotes development. Literacy isn’t just for kids —  adults can also benefit from exercising their imagination or trying out something new.

Too busy to sit and read? Maybe you have a long road trip planned to visit family. Audiobooks make stories come alive in a new way and help keep boredom out of other mundane tasks. Listening to audiobooks can have benefits for all readers, such as improving critical listening skills. Whether you’re looking for inspirational nonfiction or an epic quest for the whole family, the library offers a variety of audiobooks to suit your tastes.

This can be a stressful time of year for many people so it’s important to keep your energy reserves filled by taking time for yourself. That might mean escaping into a cozy mystery but it could also mean trying a creative new hobby or finding something that makes you laugh. No matter what direction you take, the library is here for you.

Winter Survival

Did we mention the prize? Yep, you could win a winter survival kit. All completed cards will be entered into the grand prize drawing. One entry per person. Entries must be received by Monday, February 1 at 5:30 PM. Happy reading.
