What is Ancestry Library Edition?

ProQuest partnered with Ancestry.com to create Ancestry Library Edition, one of the most important genealogical collections available today. It has unparalleled coverage of the United States and the United Kingdom, including census, vital, church, court and immigration records, as well as, record collections from Canada, Europe, Australia and other areas of the world. This collection, with thousands of databases and billions of indexed names, is essential to having a broad genealogy collection, and its valuable content is a strong complement to HeritageQuest Online.

But Wait, I Need a Library Card

I just found out about this great service and now that you’re closed to the public, how am I supposed to get a library card?

We’ve got you covered. Library cards are free for all Lexington County residents. Just because we’re closed to the public, doesn’t mean services stop. Actually, in response to the coronavirus pandemic and the CDC’s recommendation of social distancing, we encourage you to use our digital downloads to entertain yourself, as well as, continue to share your love of literacy and lifelong learning. Many companies are offering free services during this health crisis and that’s great — but with your library card, these things are always free. So, there’s no reason to wait. Sign up for your library card today and receive instant access to digital materials.

How to Sign Up for Your Library Card Online

Signing up for a library card has never been easier and you’ll have instant access to digital materials — including ebooks and audiobooks through Libby/Overdrive, magazines through RBdigital, and ebooks, audiobooks, movies, and even TV shows through Hoopla. All that in two simple steps.

  1. ‎Complete the online form at www.lexcolibrary.com/getalibrarycard
  2. Write down your temporary barcode because you’ll need it to access Hoopla, Libby/OverDrive & RBdigital. (It’ll look something like PACREG123456)

These digital-access cards will automatically expire in six months time without address verification, which is suspended at this time. We hope you enjoy accessing our digital options. If you have questions, contact us at (803) 785-2681 or ask@lexcolibrary.com.
